Why was my Stop Loss executed even though there is no such price on the chart?
Stop Loss protection orders are pending orders that are triggered when the Ask or Bid price of an asset reaches the price specified in the order. Once the Stop Loss is triggered, it becomes a Market order and gets executed.
A Stop Loss order is designed to limit a trader’s loss. If a price moves in an adverse direction and reaches a predetermined level, Stop Loss activates and closes the position to fix the amount of loss.
By default, the charts in the trading platform are built at the Bid price. So it is important to know, that the Bid price is used to check the condition of this order for Long (Buy) positions and the Ask price – for Short (Sell) positions.
So your Stop Loss may get triggered at Ask price (if you have a Short position) but the chart shows you the Bid price.
